Preparation for Academic Competitions
As Mathematical Association of America (MAA)-Certified Test Centers, IvyMax Learning Centers offer you a range of academic competition prep programs that hit two birds with one stone. First, highly competitive and demanding, our programs enrich you academically. Second, many upper-tier schools count the process of prepping through our programs and competing at our centers as a valuable extracurricular activity. Much sought after are IvyMax’s American Mathematical Competitions (AMC) 8, 10, and 12 prep courses.
The mission of the AMC is to increase interest in mathematics and to develop problem solving through enjoyable competitions. You will learn and achieve through competition with students in your school district and from around the world.
We also offer you American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) prep courses. The coveted AIME is an intermediate examination between the AMC 10 or AMC 12 and the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO). In 2011, the MAA invited all students who scored at least 120 points or in the top 2.5% of all scorers on the AMC 10 and all students who scored at least 100 points or in the top 5% of all scorers on the AMC 12, to the AIME.
In addition, we offer you special training when you advance to the prestigious USAMO or USACO.
Essential and Advanced Writing and Critical Reading Courses
We offer essential and advanced English writing, critical reading, and grammar classes catering to elementary, middle, and high school students who desire to strengthen necessary skills in these core areas. We realize that the California public school system doesn’t teach real grammar anymore. So, by filling in this crucial academic gap, we help you learn and strengthen the grammar and usage skills you will need to succeed not only on the SAT but also in your language and literature classes.
One-on-One Tutoring, Group Tutoring, and Afterschool Homework Club
We realize some students prefer the privacy of one-on-one or small group academic tutoring sessions led by a seasoned teacher or a star student who is a subject expert and who communicates effectively. We cater to your needs, and we deliver. We provide one-on-one and group tutoring for SAT I prep, SAT II prep, AP prep, GPA enhancement, academic fundamentals building, and other subject areas.
Our afterschool Homework Club is another popular option. Here, you can join a regular study session, a time when you can sit and concentrate in a quiet area with other students equally focused. One of our experienced teachers is always on hand, circulating to ensure that you get your questions answered and that you stay on track.
